Harriet L. Pudwill, 98, of Avon
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday January 18, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Avon. Burial is in the Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Avon. Visitation will be Tuesday with the family present from 4 to 6 PM at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Chapel in Avon.
Harriet L. (Kocmich) Pudwill was born on a farm near Dante, SD on April 18, 1918, the daughter of John J. and Carrie (Binder) Kocmich. She died Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall.
Harriet attended the Lone Tree country school through the 8th grade. She was united in marriage to Elmer Pudwill on September 28, 1937 at Dante. She worked at the Avon Sale Barn and North-Vu Cafe in the 1960’s. She was a primarily a farm wife who helped her husband with chores, planting and harvesting the crops.
Harriet was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Aid.
Harriet embroidered many sets of dish towels and pillow cases. She enjoyed gardening and her flower garden in later years. She loved her family and enjoyed visits from her grandsons and families. She will be remembered as a very kind and appreciative person and enjoyed baking Christmas treats for family and friends in the Avon area.
Thankful for having shared her life are her daughter Norma and husband LaRaye Andersen of Yankton, son Terrry and wife Nancy Pudwill of Evergreen, CO; two grandchildren, Troy Andersen of Kansas City, MO and Jon and wife Heidi Andersen of Yankton; two great grandchildren, Emily and Ellen Andersen of Yankton, and sister Mildred Roth of Avon.
Harriet was preceded in death by her husband Elmer on May 29, 2001, parents, son-in-law LaRaye Andersen; four sisters: Adeline Garcia, Laura Streeter, Alvina Krcil, and Dorothy Pudwill; and three brothers: John C. Kocmich, Edward Kocmich and one who died in infancy.
